  • Written just now. (Time to leave for my voice lesson.)

Early childhood - you are happy with who you are.
"Who cares what anyone else says? I like me."
Then, you learn that you DO care and begin to hide the pieces that you think others are less likely to value.
    Soon, your mask is constructed.
Eventually, you don't know who you are without it
You have forgotten that there was somebody underneath the mask.
You have forgotten that you are even wearing one.
How can I show you the real me,
When I don't even know who she is myself?

I've thought extensively reagrding the masks we each put on daily. What would the world look like if we were all who we really were instead of who we pretended to be?

Wow. Its hard man. You can get very comfortable putting on a face that isn't yours, to the point where you forget who you really are. At that point, as the new you become the real you? I'm not sure.

Take some time.. and figure out who she is, you know... her--that girl behind that mask. As for the mask itself... bash it into a wall a few times, and see if it doesn't start to crack. Then chip it away, little by little.

    Just a thought.

i think some of it is mask and some of it actually becomes us - or a part of us anyway and anymore I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing - maybe an inevitability of humanity.  You probably know the real you better than you think.

sounds like some soul searching is in store. ask God to help you discover who you are in Him, and who He wants you to be. remember, life is a journey, and every step counts. =) God bless you!

Yup! That's where finding your heart, and the journey that ensues come in to play. I've been on that journey for a while now and it's so very exciting to see just who I'm supposed to be! I love it!

Sorry I didn't see this until now.  I havn't been the greatest of friends to my friends here on Xanga.  For what it's worth, I will be praying for you old friend.  I really hope all is well with you and that you continue to stay focused on The One who does know who you are, and loves you unconditionally.  He should be your focus.  The more you focus on your walk with Him, the more clearly you will see yourself through His eyes.

    (1 Samuel 12:23) - Praying.
